How much free space do you have on your SSD? It's quite possible the SSD just needed some time to do some garbage collection. AS SSD tends to make the problem worse (like 2-3GB worth of random writes) so if you've already got slow write speeds, I'd let the SSD idle first before benching... rolleyes.gif

I don't use RST because I have found they make my drives slower across the board.

One thing that I would recommend, aside from either keeping 20pct free or OP'ing 20pct, is to install the latest Samsung Magician software and run the Performance Optimization (TRIM). I run it 2-3x a month just for the warm and fuzzies, and my drive has had performance consistency of under 1pct from Week 2 of owning the drive to now. This is an 830 256GB, but the 840Pro is actually quite similar as are the results.

I can't tell from my phone screen, but if you have a 128GB model, write speeds are low compared to reads...

my Samsung 840 pro are only filled up 70%.
And yesterday it did the same thing, with decreased writespeed.

And I also tryed that thing about uncheck / check those two things, that got mention at the other page. It did the trick, but it was only a temporary fix. Later my writespeed got knocked down to around 300.

And if my SSD is doing some check resource monitor thing, then everybodys SSD should do that. Because I never enabled something like that before.

So everyone runs that Performance Optimization, to keep their writespeed up?
I just dont see why I need to run it. As mention before, ive already done some ssd tweaks.

btw it seems I installed the wrong intel rapid thing?
Theres also an "AHCI: Intel® Rapid Storage Technology Driver for Intel Desktop Boards"

I use windows default AHCI driver. Do I need that one instead?

EDIT: I just saw something about sata power management needs to be disabled. Have to check that one out too.

Which did you install? If you installed the one I linked or the one from the mobo's site then you installed the correct one.

If you installed IRST as you stated before it replaces the Windows driver on install.

Also, you said it was a temp fix to uncheck and recheck the boxes under the driver policies. If you uninstalled the IRST driver or reinstalled another version you will have to redo that uncheck/rechck again.

The one you linked to. But after I saw the IRST made the write speed even worse, I removed it instantly.
And ever since then, I've done that uncheck / check thing like mad.

I just dont get it, why sometimes the write speed can be at full performance, while other time its been cut with 50%. And then 10min later its back to full.
Is that just how SSD's works?

Or maybe its just an compatibility issue with haswell and samsung 840 pro? As when doing google search. I'm not alone to have this issue.

hmm, l not sure, something is throttling it. Try disabling intel speed step and C1E in the bios?

I have not had any similar experience. My writes have never dropped anywhere near as much with any of the SSDs I've used. (havent has a 840 pro yet) My 64GB M4 I benched ~30-40 times one after another and the seq speeds were still similar within ~10%.

those power saving stuff, have been disabled a long time ago frown.gif

I guess I either need to accept it, RMA my samsung 840 pro (which I doubt they will accept) or try another SSD brand.

Never heard of this i have a 840 pro / 4770K and not a single issue, the performance is always around the same values. Recheck the tweaks you did one (or more) must be wrong.
