If you're only on 1080p then I'd save the cash... Mantle should provide a nice performance boost in a couple of months that'll extend the 7950's lifespan further.

7950 is still a beast card. The only 2 games it has trouble playing on high settings is crysis 3 and metro LL

Over the last 18 months.

GTX670 Sli
GTX680 Sli
7970 Ghz Edition CF
7970 Matrix CF
Titan
GTX780
7990 quadfire

At the moment I am back to a single 7970 Matrix while I wait for the R9 290X cards to arrive, going for 2 of them.

I know that's pretty insane but I have a pc shop so I pay much less than the public.

Not quite... Mantle means any optimised games (e.g. BF4) should get very large performance boosts on AMD cards which use GCN - so the HD7000 and R9 series. For 1080p though a 290x will probably be serious overkill. The 7950 should serve you well for at least 8 months, after which you'll be able to see if games are being optimised for Mantle, and of course how good Nvidia's Maxwell is.

About every 2.5 years or so on average.

2006 7900gt
2008 3870
2011 6950

Will probably try to pick up another 6970 for cf cheaply after this launch to eke out another year or two more cost effectively.

I haven't really upgraded anything since I built this PC, but I'm heavily considering a 780 for Watch_Dogs and ACIV smile.gif
