Will Vinyl wrapping void my warranty?

Thread Starter
Hi guys, just a couple of questions

If I was to vinyl wrap the TwinFrozR III coolers on my graphics cards would this void the warranty? Also if I was to purchase and fit back plates to them would this void the warranty at all?

I'm getting round to colour coding my rig how I'd like it (Black/Red) and the graphics cards are one of the things I'd modding, I plan on wrapping them in carbon fibre effect vinyl.

Could anyone recommend a back plate to fit the HD7970's?

Another thing, what can be done to make the crossfire links look better?

I plan on vinyl wrapping other things in my rig but as I've only had the graphics cards a couple of weeks I'd rather not void the warranty.

I don't think backplates void any warranties. I'm pretty sure my backplate went right over the warranty sticker.

I'd say the vinyl probably would void the warranty, unless you were able to put it on without taking the card apart.

Also, I put some of the same carbon fiber vinyl on my SLI bridge and it looked pretty nice. Some people put velcro on them and then create a plate to velcro to the bridge.

I would recommend putting painters tape (the blue 3M tape) on any factory stickers or lettering your card has. That way if you need to peel off the vinyl sticker, it won't damage it. I had wrapped my corsair power supply and when I peeled off the vinyl, all the stickers on the power supply came along with it worriedsmiley.gif

Got any photos of your SLI bridge?
And I dont think I'd have to take the card to bits would just be covering the top/sides of the TwinFrozR cooler

That sounds like a good idea, could basically do a layer of blue tape over everywhere I plan on putting the vinyl that way there shouldn't be any bumps under it either, although without looking I'm not sure if there are actually any stickers on the top of it

Here's the best pic I could find. Unfortunately, my dog ate it, so I don't actually have it anymore.

Looks good, shame about the dog eating it though.

Might give that a try myself, what carbon wrap did you use? Is that the 3M stuff?

The 3M stuff looks the best so that's probably what I'll be going with, will probably try the vinyl wrap on the crossfire links as it looks really good, another option I was thinking was plastidip spray, would that work?

I'm sure it would work. I'm guessing it isn't conductive, but you might want to check.

Pretty sure it isn't as they make a paint on and spray on electrical "tape" and also the dip form of plastidip is used for waterproofing electrical parts in the RC world, Going to try Vinyl wrap on the crossfire bridges first, probably pick some up in the week.
