I don't think you need to run you chip that hard as I have my i7-930 @ 3.5Ghz with HT on with stock voltage right now and I have the R9 290 on board and it just plays BF 4 so darn smooth at 1920 x 1080 Ultra everything in the 80-100 fps with windows 8.1

Exactly what I was thinking... At 4.4GHz I run the voltage at 1.45V, but I can drop back to 4.0GHz and run with a voltage of 1.28V. So I think I will take her down a bit and run there unless I really need 4.4GHz. My BIOS allows saving profiles, so I can save a 4.0 and 4.4 profile. Also, my system does not run 24/7, it hibernates after 60 min of non-use. But it's nice to run benchmarks at 4.4 (Passmark CPU score of 8200 - not bad for this old antique!), however, everyday use can be 4.0. Nice to know it will run BF4 smooth with a 290! smile.gif

I don't think you need to upgrade anything other than you video card if this is simply for gaming.
