They even said they will go F2P only in a few years. I wonder how that will turn out.

I think they will go F2P with all of their self published games. Warface is a good example of that... And a pretty awesome game, too. I've had a blast with the beta.

But as we can see with Ryse, they're also not opposed to taking money from other publishers to make conventional games as well.

Ok. First off. I would like to point out that the amount of PC gamers tend to know more about their hardware than console players. Console players do not care for poly count, high resolution textures, or multi monitor gaming. All they want is convenience.

PC gamers are the enthusiasts, knowing the insides and the outsides. Some even know how gaming engines work and how to optimize some better.

That being said. 1/2ing the poly count the console players won't mind at all. They won't mind if they are running sub1080p for another console generation. They won't mind using a controller for fps. They choose console for convenience. although the argument that they are already getting outdated hardware is true, at least they dont have to "nerd about and circlejerk about specs and triangles" to get the game to work without any problems because the devs do that for them.

For the record, yes I am a PC Elitist.

Am I the only one that is irked by the fact that they are going for a more "Cinematic" experience?!?
Give me something along the line of Dark Souls where I actually get to play the game 99% of the time and not watch scripted events/cutscenes every two minutes.

This is a good point. Considering most are currently running LESS than 720p upscaled to 1080p, there's really no arguing that 900p to 1080p is still going to provide a huge improvement.

That being said, it's just really sad how much running at non native res kills image quality even though it's reallly not "that" far off from 1080p.

If 1440p TVs existed, I wouldn't care about 720p on 7 year old consoles at this point. Unfortunately we have all of these strange resolutions in some of the biggest titles like CoD and Halo until Halo 4. It should look just as good as native if it's scaled in whole pixels. 900p doesn't cleanly scale to 1440p or 4K. Yes, more resolution is better, but most of the reason it looks so terrible is because of the scaling from 720p to 1080p. Now we're going to have the exact same problem even if we have 4K TVs that scale 720p well.

I've been playing around with settings on my rig in eyefinity for all of my games. I cannot play under60fps or it damages the immersion for some reason.

BF3
Ultra(SMAA)1080px3: 30fps
Low(SMAA)1080px3: 60fps
Ultra(SMAA) 720px3:60fps

I prefer ultra running at 720px3 because the jaggy shadows are not there, ambient occlusuon is still adding to the immersion etc. I can't stand playing on low and sitting further from the screen both helps me see the other 2 screens and minimal IQ is lost. Trust me.

The majority of console players sit on the couch using a television that is 5ft away. They are not going to notice the difference. And if they do, it will be the bare minimum difference. If they want more than that though, they will have to go PC.

Well i honestly think many times it depends on the game itself.

I played Metro 2033 at 720p, as even with a Titan the framerate isnt a solid 60fps with max settings at 1080p. Honestly didn't look that bad IMO.

But other games just look fugly at anything other than non native resolution.

That being said, I think it's time for you to add some more power to your rig if you're going to be running 3 monitors, bro smile.gif
