EK Supremacy does not fit Asus RIVE?

Thread Starter
Please advice. Am I doing anything wrong? When I try to mount my brand new EK Supremacyhttp://www.ekwb.com/shop/blocks/cpu-blocks/supremacy/ek-supremacy-nickel.html onto my RIVE board, the screw that holds the block together interferes with the cpu-fastening mechanism on the RIVE. So when laid flat down on the cpu the Supremacy wobbles.
My Supremacys nickel base is totaly squared, but the one my friend bought has a octagon shape of the nickel base. Hence allowing the screws to be far away from the mechanism.

This is mine

This looks more like the one my friend have:

What to do? It may be 0.5 mm or 1 mm at most it wobbles. Should I just fill it up with thermal paste?

Screw won't go all the way in? Maybe gasket is out of place keeping it from sealing/seating right.
Or you have wrong type block or base. Email ek.
Real picture of the issue would help.

Your supremacy is correct, do not worry. All bases of CPU block are like that ( at least from EK) your friend block with a strange shape around the screw is the Universal VGA block from EK.

Now, the RIVE is a LGA 2011, you have to use another set of screws to be able to fit it correctly (the LGA2011 screws set are included with every Supremacy block)

Like someone above said make sure you use the lga 2011 mounting hardware. You don't need to change the backplate or use any backplate as it's already installed on RIVE. I remember installation was pretty easy so make sure your using correct hardware.

This is the 2 kind of screws you get with the Supremacy, and for the LGA 2011, you have to use the one of the left.
You can see it on the user-guide as well at the : Step 5c Intel Socket LGA 2011 (left side)

And for the installation, as Strong Island said, its really simple :
- Mount the 4 LGA2011 screws
- Put some thermal paste on your cpu
- Place your waterblock, try to give it a little wiggle to remove possible air-bubble
- Place the springs on all screws
- Place the heads, then tighten them 2 by 2 (Top Left and Bottom Right then Top Right and Bottom Left, repeat until the block is properly mounted)

I have not changed or applied any backplate. Using original RIVE.
The screw I use are the ones especially for 2011-platform.
The gasket is not the problem. The block is as tights screwed togethers as it ever could be.

I am starting to suspect EK failed to make enough space in the nickel plate for the screws to sink down into. EG to much nickel coating in the holes.

Removed the base plate laid it ontop of the cpu while fitted on the motherboard, ans as I suspected there was no wobbeling.
So then i got a countersink and removed some of the nickel plating in the holes of the base plate. After that the block fits just perfect on top of the cpu with the right alignment.
The screw heads were sticking out to far.

Used this to enlargen the holes.

Hi Sneaky,

Apologies for this hickup. We do our best to make sure all blocks leave the factory in perfect condition but little things like this can go unnoticed. Glad you were able to find a solution and if you have any other problems please let me know.
