faulty Sapphire HD7870 Ghz?? How to test??

Hi,
I used the failure of my workstation 6670 as an excuse to upgrade.. (aren't excuses great?!)

BUT, I don't know what the story is. Testing with CrystalMark I get barely higher scores than with the same machine with an HD5770.. which is 5 levels lower on Toms Heirarchy chart... I would have thought there would be a bit more of a difference? The older card was benchmarked with a slightly higher CPU OC (4.0 vs 3.8) but otherwise the same... not even using a very high resolution. I'm wondering if the newer card is faulty.. but don't know how to determine that.

Here are the two scores (I save the images with some info about the setup):

thanks for any advice!

Dude... "GDI" and "D2D" is text on the desktop and stuff, meaning it's boring. "OGL" probably means "OpenGL". This is 3D and the score is a lot higher. Also, who knows what got tested with that "OGL"... You should look at a benchmark like Heaven which draws actual pretty graphics.
