Please help me decide which laptop to get. What has better fps or general overall performance, gtx 770m with i7-4700mq or 8970m with a10 5750m processor:D

well looking up mobile gpu speeds is easy, you can do it here http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Graphics-Cards-Benchmark-List.844.0.html

the amd chip trounces the nvidia chip in everything but directx 9. the 770m is a mobilized 670, whereas the 8970 is a mobilized 7870ghz
The a10 is a weaker chip than the i7, but for gaming it may not matter all that much. http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core-i7-4700MQ-vs-AMD-A10-5750M
The i7 is an 8 thread processor where the a10 is a 6 thread, but there basically aren't any games that use more than 4 so that should matter little. "general" performance wise, i.e things that aren't games, the i7 will come out on top. Not sure ho much difference you'd see gaming processor wise. It will depend heavily on how optimized the game is. The percentage difference beween the GPUs is greater than that of the CPUs though.

My gut says AMD for gaming, Intel for everything else, but if you had models, there might be benchmarks that could be compared.

Im deciding between a Sager np8235 and a Msi Gx60 3be-240us. Ive heard something about the a10 bottlenecking and the gpu not using full potential. What is that about?

got a review and benchmark here for the gx60. This one is running a 7970m instead of an 8970, but its still the same base processor. so small bump pver this. 3dmark vantage 12360, 3dmark11 4171.

the base GPU vantage score was in the 17k range, so it is being hit a bit by the slow processor in directx10 stuff. One thing to consider is if overclocking the CPU may get you somewhere. If it is bottlenecked, it's probably not by much. The problem is that the multi is probably locked

the bare notebookcheck for the 770 is 20% higher than this so it is possible the sager is indeed faster. i suspect not by a great deal though. maybe 10-15%, which is maybe 3 or 4 fps.
there's a review of the sager where he very frustratingly does not mention the actual benchmark score he runs here. He mentions not having the heat problems others were having, but I did run across a bunch of those so his experience may not be common.

If you can get an overclockable MSI it should kick the sager's butt though.
