Unless you plan on getting 3-4 of them an 8GB model would serve no purpose over the 4GB

I plan on running 7680x1440p. I'm hoping 2 x 6-8gb r9-290x will be enough for BF4.

Wow that must look amazing. If at 1080p its likely to consume 2-3GB, I'm not so sure about even 8GB being enough for 7680x1440 unless of course you're not talking about max settings/AA

I don't mind running no AA but I would prefer at least 2x AA.

Makes me wonder if the 290x is gonna leave the 280x on the dust.

How close is a 1.1ghz 7970 to a stock gtx 780.

It probably will, to be honest. If the 7970 GHz trades blows with a 770 and the 290x is meant to 'ridicule the Titan' then yeah

I wouldn't preorder something without knowing the MSRP as well and let le happy AMD merchant has his way with my shekels...

They could've done what Nvidia did to their 780/Titan cards by giving them a cast aluminum cooler shroud with black oxide finish to justify the premium image and cost....I'm totally not gonna spend over $500 for some cheap plastic that lights up red if the card is limited to reference design only....

Though I wouldn't mind getting 2 R9-280X for my HTPC for $300 a steal redface.gif

10 to 15% maybe? In terms of pure performance it is notable, in terms of price/performance it is a joke. Then again we should just avoid the price/performance discussion at this point.....because we all just want the new hotness.

Initially, I loved the idea of a special edition BF4 R9 290X. Upon further review, my initial ruling has been overturned. (Assuming that the unit volume is accurate)
