I wouldn't mind selling off my cards (SLI 660s) to try this GPU out.

The game I play doesn't even support SLI, and I suppose I am willing to take a risk buying a GPU that I'll mostly be playing BF4 & the other game I play that isn't supported by SLI.

I'd say so.
I've played BF3 at 7680x1440 with my 7970's on high settings -- I could achieve a playable 40 fps but I'd sometimes run into the VRAM wall forcing me down to lower settings. Two 4GB 290x cards could probably do the same with BF4, but 8GB ones should have no problem achieving good framerates.. especially once Mantle comes out.

Welp it was reported to be open source so nvidia would be able to support it without a license from AMD but now there are other news that contradict that.

The open source wasn't to allow nvidia access to it, it was to give developers full access to the code itself. Like many have said earlier, mantle is coded specifically for gcn architecture, which is entirely different from nvidia's gpu arch, they are incompatible in every which way.

Mantle is Open Source, yes, so anyone can implement mantle in their software/products. Open Source just means the source, it, is there and free. The technology to actually utilize that product doesn't have to be included in that.

Basically AMD made Mantle open source to encourage adoption by game developers, as a means to get Mantle out in as many products as possible.

Well, to be honest, BF4 is probably the only game worth having such a strong GPU. And with BF4 Mantle version coming out in December will make it even better. I think this is a great move by AMD.
