HELP.... im at my wits end...

Alright so i bought ffxiv and for the last month ive been trying to play it how i should be able to, up until yesterday i had a 965 be quad core oc'd to 4ghz and a ssd main neutron drive with a 670 ftw sli configuration, in the game i was always getting low frames like 40-60 with constant drops when i should be at least 100+, all benchs are low compared to when i put them in my friends system and in the game he is getting 120+ fps with MY cards.. i stick his gtx titan in mine and his runs like garbage *his setup is a 2nd gen i7 16gb ram, ssd main drive and i cant remember board*, so i decide to buy a new haswell system, 4770k with 16gb of 1866 dominator plat ram with a z87 g45 gaming board with a h100i liquid cool, i re use my sli config, my ssd and my 2tb backup drive. get home last night, set it all up, get into the game.. 20 ******* fps... max like 40.... no matter what i do, updating bios, checking settings, oc'ing it does not change.. *** am i cursed? im also using a 750w psu, is that too low? could it be my ssd or my backup drive doing that? this seems so strange to me as people with crappier rigs are running high frames np, just bought this brand new rig and a 8800 gt could outperform me... anyone?

sounds like something is not working right. I'd check my graphs, and see which one, if any, is a solid green bar.

You might also have a malware issue, though this is statistically unlikely. is there something huge running int he background when you play games?

When you did your upgrade did you do a clean reinstall? or just move your drive?

Did you do a clean install on the OS?? When making a major change like that you should reinstall the OS. If not your going to have conflicting driver which will cause it not to run right.

If you have make sure you install all the drivers for the MB like chipset drivers and stuff like that.

...as has been suggested, a clean OS re-install might be an option. But is also may be a PARTIAL explanation that you have some app(s) running at all times that might be wrecking things. Use Windows resource manager to look at processes running and try to identify any potential culprits.

...next I would use something like PrecisionX or MSI Afterburner to log GPU usage, CPU and VRAM speed during your game...those will in itself slow down things just a touch but will in turn give you some more clues as to how the GPUs and SLI are performing

Thanks for the reply everyone, yes i tried everything i could think of, it was a new install on the new system, the cards were boosting and nvidia control panel saw everything correctly, clean install means no malware, anything like that, everything was legit, only thing that was swapped over was cards which i knew were good, and ssd and hdd, so i went into work today and swapped it with another ssd. reinstalled windows.. bam.. worked like a charm, full bench scores, everything perfect, chalk this one up to never thinking an ssd would boot windows in 12 secs yet affect framerate and gameplay like this.. i do appreciate the replies, again never thought something like an ssd would cause this but at least we can all add this to our bank of ideas for the future.

sounds like a faulty psu could be the culprit if you got a new cpu/mobo and clean install of the OS and its still running like garbage.

edit.. nvm. didnt read last post.
