Total percentage of Windows 7 x64 alone (not including Windows 7 32bit) = 51.41%

Total percentage of Windows 8, 8 x64 and 8.1 x64 users combined = 16.48%

UMM thats Steam users. Not even all of them, a very small sample of them.

Please refer to the Chart/Article I posted and stop living in denial. Windows 8 is a success!

Also you can count on the Modern UI to remain in Windows 9 with some tweaks/changes. Classic Start Menu is doneskies. Sayonara!

How about this chart:

or this one

Over half of Steam users don't run Windows 8, and the majority of consumers don't like Windows 8 so....

The Steam Hardware Survey only includes a small sample of Steam Users. Even if it was all, Steam is a very small market.

Now I'm confused.

"Top 7 Operating Systems from Sept 2012 to Sept 2013"

I see Windows 7 well above 50% and Windows XP's roughly 22%.

Every other OS on that list has a better average than Windows 8.

Only because of the UI, and people going "CHANGE??? NO!!!!!"

But shouldn't that be a sign? Seriously, Windows 8 with a typical 'Windows' UI would have sold millions of copies and had tons of people moving from XP, Vista and 7. Yet they completely alienated most of their customer base and the numbers are proving it.

In March 2013 Windows 8 Passed Android OS/iOS
In June 2013 Windows 8 Passed Vista
In September 2013 Windows 8 Surpassed OSX users.

It will be awhile before they overtake XP and 7. But Windows 8 is now the 3rd most used OS. Hardly a disaster or failure for a first year OS.

Windows XP and 7 have been out for years.

Windows 8 is in its first year still.

Passing OSX and Vista is a huge success!

The early sales of windows 8 is a sacrifice. It always happens when big changes come. Microsoft decided to change the UI. Maybe everyone won't be on board all at once, but many will automatically make the jump, because it is new. I am one of those people. I view things practically. MS is not going to change anything that I can't adapt to. There is nothing in 7 that I can't do with 8. The new UI is ushering in an era where the Phone, Tablet, PC, and Laptop use the same operating system, and all apps work the same on all devices. It doesn't work 100% right now, of course. Perfection is never had at the first go. However, this is a great start.

Unified OS's mean much easier tech support. Customers who own a Windows PC will find that a Windows phone just makes perfect sense. They can use their phone and PC the same way. Genius, if you ask me. Windows is about the take the phone and tablet market by storm, mark my words.

Okay, its not a disaster but it could have been better, yes? Not to mention, most Windows 8 users bought their PC with Windows 8 pre-installed.

MS is just being stubborn. They could Include the old style UI as an option and make millions! tongue.gif Or even better, have the "Windows 7 UI" in the App store on the cheap. Don't like Metro, buy the W7 app for a few bucks and your done.

M$ wants even MORE, which is why the change. Read my last post. And FYI, likely 90% of Windows users don't buy the copy of windows separate from the PC.
