Hey, I know it's a little off-topic, but my wife forgot to empty the litter box and her cat peed into a disused PSU that was underneath the table.

Is it safe to flush it with water and just dry it (disassembled) for a week or two in the hot attic?

What a thing to happen. What PSU is it? I would say maybe safe depending on how long the pee has been sitting there. So long as components are not corroded. Wash with distilled water and dry completely....and maybe test out with components that you don't mind killing.

I absolutely wouldn't wash it. Power supplies have large electrolytic capacitors that can remain charged to main power for a long time after unplugging- wash it and you run the risk of electrocution. You could wait for it to dry and then test it. It may be fine, or it may have shorted when your cat peed on it. Dunno how to get the smell out though...

You could probably test the caps with a voltmeter to see if they have voltage across them though, You may be able to discharge them by providing the voltage with a path to ground. Then lightly washing may be a possibility.

Actually, it's a suspect HX650W (The older W version) that I wanted to do some load-testing on, and if stable under long-duration, convert to general-purpose use, primarily for ham gear, assuming I can tweak the voltage somewhere close to 13.8V. It technically, but not actually, is still under warranty, but because it was bought used on eBay, Corsair won't replace it, which is why it was sitting under the table awaiting testing/tinkering/conversion.

As for the caps, I'm assuming that they do put proper bleeders in, and that the caps will be discharged. It's been a while since it's been used.

I love ALL of your builds guys.
I am thinking about buying a 750D myself and doing my first custom loop too. But I do have some questions, I am probably going with a CPU loop at first with a 360 rad on top and maybe going with a 280 rad on the front when I am adding GPU('s) But I do need at least 1 hard drive cage as I like to have some storage too (3.5" drives) And I really like the EK 250 reservoir probably the D5 pump combo. But I have no idea if it all will fit or how to mount it.
So any help would be welcome smile.gif

I can't help with the res bit but if you're putting a rad in the front then you lose the hdd cage mounting area right under the 5.25" bays and the one closest to the fan. The 360 up top is doable but depends on thickness of rad, fan setup(push/pull or push-pull) and motherboard heatsink. Basically you have about 84mm(?) clearance without having to offset rad mounting.

How many hdds do you plan on having?if you only have one hdd and ssd, then it would be no problem mounting it behing your motherboard tray. Or you could always mount some of them in your 5.25" bays with a proper adapter

I put a 240 Rad in the bottom space and have the Drive cage hanging from the 5.25" bays, with a 240ml res/pump mounted between the GPU and the drive cages. Warning: personal setup (Click to show)

Putting the rad in the front, the first time I built into a 750D, made for long awkward runs that worked fine, but looked pretty bad then trying to find a decent place to mount the drive cages was difficult as there was really only one spot left, which doesn't always work with long PSU's, and fitting the 240ml Res in the font made for some awkward mounting challenges with the front Rad... Warning: first build Rad in front then rearranged to bottom (Click to show)
