Looking to build my own pc soon. Currently on microcenter there is a bundle for the i7-4770k and the Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD4H and I save 50 dollars. They don't have that deal with the Asus Maximus VI Hero. I have had good experience with ASUS, but have never bought anything from Gigabyte. Is the $50 difference worth it for the Asus Maximus VI Hero ?

There will be no difference in overclocking ability. As far as the board goes, it has good reviews. So, it is basically down to the features you want or need.

+1.

having built systems with both I'd recommend both, but I'd choose the UD4H since you aren't getting the benefit of your extra $$ with the Maximus VI Hero. I've seen numerous user reports that gigabyte does have some issues running with 4 ram slots populated so if you plan to have 4 ram sticks that alone might be the deciding factor..

I've built with both as well, I'd give the nod to the Hero. The onboard sound on the Hero is quite a nice bonus too, if you dont have a soundcard, I also found it to be a better memory OC'er than the Gigabyte board.

The hero has better on board audio, it looks better (Imo), some people say the Gigabyte BIOS is confusing. The ASUS boards use some weird nomenclature, though. Easy to get past.

I actually had the Hero and the UH4H. I ended up keeping the Gigabyte because it has about 95% of the hero features. The only main difference between the two is the sound. Hero uses a better sound system, but not enough to make up for the difference in pricing (IMO).
