I recently purchased a Gigabyte Radeon 7990 from newegg and it's making a buzzing like noise like coil whine when I'm gaming. The noise goes away when I'm idle or doing nothing. Does all radeon 7990 have coil whine ?

my pc specs are:
AMD FX 8350
gigabyte ga-990fxa-ud3
corsair hx 850 psu

I guess I have been lucky with both my 7990s from Gigabyte...no coil whine.

..can't really say w/o hearing it.... but if it bothers you, you might try RMA - though there are also some folks who have posted ways to eliminate coil whine (HD 7950 / 7970 / 7990 thread ?)

I had all the same issues that you did with my XFX 7990. My 3d mark crashed the first time after install but has been working great after a reboot.
As for the coil whine, mine was terrible when I got it but after a couple of weeks of use, it became a bit more bearable. The card also started to run a lot quieter and cooler too for some reason that is not known to me.

Recently I tried a few things to get rid of the coil whine in games completely. First I tried changing outlets and also changing the voltage from 110v to 220v. Both did absolutely nothing. Next I disabled ULPS which added a few frames to my games but still nothing. Finally, I tried disabling Windows aero and, BOOM, coil whine disappeared to something that was only faintly audible in most games. So I would definitely recommend giving this a try as it seemed to have worked for me.
