Synology 412+ (One of my Drives Failed) - Can I Use a Larger Drive?

So one of my four 2TB Samsung Spinpoint F3 drives died over the weekend. I need to replace that drive ASAP. From my understanding the only qualification is that the replacement drive must at least meet the specs of the other drives in terms of storage, and probably speed. So, I was thinking that eventually I should have all 3TB drives.

Is it alright to go with a 3TB drive for the failed drive, despite the others being 2TB drives? And what drive would you recommend?

Are you running a traditional RAID or are you using the Synology "Hybrid RAID" or whatever it's called?

Go ahead with the 3TB. I would go for one of the WD Red drives.

I was looking at that and the Seagate NAS and Barracuda drives. But, I am not sure I see the point in my NAS for a Barracuda at least. Perhaps in a server that was running apps consistently, and even then the RE drives are best.
