Currently Amazon is selling that card for $200 interested in buying 2 of them and being set for the next 2 years. Been reading people's reviews and so far all of them have been terrible saying that the reference cooler is loud and doesn't cool the card. How bad are the coolers actually from people who have the cooler. And if so what 7950s would you recommend? Or should i just go straight for a 7970

7950 REFERENCE HEATSINK

The link pretty much suns it up, very small heatsink with no VRM or MEM cooling. I would go with your favorite manufacturer of heatsink or get the Accelero 7970 cooler.

THATS A HEATSINK

BTW you dont bump after 18 mins..

I had a 7950 with a reference cooler, but I only bought the one with the reference cooler because I was planning on buying the Acclero 7970 cooler. There is no OC room with the reference cooler and it was far too loud for me. With the Accelero 7970 I am able to get an OC of 1150/1550 from stock 925/1250 with a max temp of 50C. With the reference cooler at stock clocks I was in the 80-85C range. The performance increase from the OC and the silence of the Accelero 7970 cooler easily pays for itself.

IMO the 7970 is not worth it.
