Only 8000 Preorders available for R290X - Page 2

Has AMD said anything about non-x versions of the new GPU's? Like if they will be selling an r9 290 or r9 280 non-x versions for lower prices?

it is base core 800, boosts up to 1050/1125, unless you want to disable boost on it and the titan and compare them like that.

I dont care about the bf4 edition, I care that it's the only card available until thanksgiving or Christmas. They are preorders for the 3rd, the real specs drop on the 15th, then when will the card be released by the end of the month? Ever try to get a flagship gpu within the first 60 days of release?

I need 2 gpu's for bf4. AMD is stupid. They sponsor a game that they market their gpu for and don't even release it until after the game launches. Retarded.

I kinda feel the same way... if this card isn't in peoples hands by bf4 release or at minimum a week or two after release I see sales taking a big hit

But the game is out end of October?

Yes and the game isn't in short supply. We can all have the game on the 29th. Only a handful of us can have a GPU though.

Why do they still continue to embarrass themselves in front of nvidia? Why would not have your product on shelves first of the month before your game releases.

Newsflash AMD: people aren't going to wait until the holidays to play bf4 at their desired settings. Nvidia thanks you for the increased sales of an already inflated 780. No wonder they never lower prices, AMD is always there to make sure they don't have to.

Not a chance they go below $500, and I doubt they go below $600. The only way they go to $460 is if the 290X is at $399. Nvidia hasn't played the price drop game since the 280 days.

It wasn't at 800 - they corrected the story. The tests were at 1050.

You are aware that pretty much everything you just said is just wild speculation, right?

What we actually know is that pre-orders start on 03-10-13 and that the NDA ends on 15-10-13.
All the most resent rumours and educated guesses seem to agree that the release will likely coincide with the end of the NDA, which would mean that the 290X may well be available on that date.

Unless we go into full tin foil hat mode, the only rational conclusion is that the only thing affected by the whole pre-order thing, is who gets the limited BF4 editions and potentially who gets to the front of the line in the event that the first batch will be sold out immediately. Just like with every other product in the world.

There is no reason to believe that you will have to either pre-order or wait for months. Best guess is that if you take a week or two to look at the benchmarks after the NDA ends (which all rational people will likely do), you should have no problem buying a 290X from any half decent store, if you so desire.
