I would steer away from DFI's Socket 939. I know people are getting really good overclocks on them but my RDX-200 and my friend's nForce 4 Ultra-D have been having a lot of problem. Both of them killed out components, mine currently doesn't work and my friend had to buy all new parts. I'd get an Asus motherboard for sure.

I would go with DFI's Socket 939. I've got an RDX-200 and it has been amazing

However, recently I saw a thread about a problem which seems only to occur with Expert boards, so have a hunt

why not look into a 6300 or 6400 a bit more future proof i think than a 939.

He says he's looking for a budget system, and you can pick up Socket 939 motherboards for half the price of Core2Duo ones

AM2 instead of Socket 939. AM2 has an acutal upgrade path compared to Socket 939.

I would go with Socket 939, then upgrade to C2D at a later date if you wanted to

Aren't they going to release Socket 939 Semprons?

Yeah, unless anyone can give me a really good reason not to, I'm going to be using the DFI 939 motherboard. I'll look around locally before looking online. On another note, what power supply would you guys recommend? Are the OCZ Gamestream ones any good?

Thats why I wouldn't get one, lol. OCZ Gamestream are very good, may be a bit of an overkill for your system, I would reccomend the 500W silverstone.

For a motherboard I reccomend the MSI K8N, a hidden gem in overclocking for 939s.
