Virtualised Implimentation - Page 2

Inception it is quite hehe.
Well as ive mentioned above, we are a ~800 system school, so en-mass rollouts is what im looking for (generally 40-60 systems at a time).
I have 2 rollouts to do this week which ill do with my new adapted method (as above) and see how that goes. Got it down to running a single bat file, then answering the OOBE questions and then joining the domain manually for each system. Better than it was (manually formatting disks etc that i used to do).
SCCM is what id be looking at. I believe i should have the time to look into it over the coming month or so, and a proper server to implement it in Jan/Feb (whitebox or VM install in the mean time). I see it as valuable to get my head around both for myself and future aspirations, and for the school currently. If it takes a few weeks i see it as well spent time with the time it saves over the old method it should pay for itself in a few months.

Ill look into those labs tomorrow/Friday at work - anything else you can send my way resources wise would be appreciated. Then off to Google/Youtube for the rest i cannot figure.

I have a few other resources for SCCM, but not something I could share publicly here. Feel free to PM me and I can share.

I have worked with about 6 school systems throughout Kentucky, Indiana, and Ohio (here in the states), as well as a few universities. The needs that I see a lot is reimaging classrooms/labs at the same time. One of the features that makes SCCM so good at this is Multicasting (really cuts down on network traffic). You can image an entire classroom or lab from the comfort of your desk in another building, and never have to touch or see the computers you are imaging (domain join, app installation, OOBE/sysprep settings, partitioning, and everything else is handled with the Task Sequence). Definitely do what works for you if you have a deadline, but if you have the option to look at new software, I can highly highly recommend SCCM.

The school systems that I stood it up at are using it to reimage pretty much all lab and classroom PCs on every break (fall, winter, spring, and summer) so the computers are tip top shape. It's all zero touch, so they schedule the deployment a few months out, and it just happens over break (the break that they also get to enjoy, since they don't have to be at the schools walking around imaging the computers). wink.gif
