7950, strange fps drop observation - Help needed

I'm not sure as to what's going on exactly, my gpu only running at 40% ~60% while trying to play battlefield 4 made me skeptical, me to take a deeper look at the whole thing. I couldn't run it, so i decided to try battlefield 3

I have a nice average FPS of 60~70.. sometimes more sometimes a bit less, but nothing really spectacular, however, what i noticed is that it would occassionaly hang, drop down to 1 fps and then continue as though nothing has happened. What may be the cause of this, can anybody clarify?

When running battlefield 3, my gpu seems to be at around 85-100%.. im going to take a deeper look s formatting, i was thinking of getting a new psu since im buying a new pc case anyway, have enough money to lash out for a new psu even if not necessary, any suggestions? Anyways, my main concern are the drops in fps. As far as i can recall i have never experienced that, ever.. mhm...

Thanks in advance.

Is it only while playing a game that this happens? If you try running a stress test in something like Furmark does it also occasionally hang?

Is anything showing up in the event viewer like errors corresponding to the fps drops?

theres going to be driver issues out of the game on BF4 i'm sure. If it's using up to 100% in bf3, then this seems like driver.....

Well he said even during BF3 the game would hang and fps drop to 1 and then continue as normal. Kind of interested in the cause of this as I am looking into getting a 7950 soon since my GTX 260 stopped working last week.

Sounds like throttling. Set the power limit to +20% in CCC, maybe +50% if you do the mod.

You could try to force triple buffering and/or DVC in RadeonPro to smooth out the issue if it is driver related.

Well guys, i was so frustrated, that i thought i will format my system. And so i did. I have only played bf 4 so far, and i am happy to say that i can RUN it this time around. It's doing quite well considering it's a beta. I felt a few moments where the fps would drop badly, but it didn't seem to be related to what i would see in battlefield 3. It was not longer a 1fps drop, but rather a drop that brought me down to 29~36 while being shot at multiple times by a tank (my guess would have me assume that that was the main reason.) I'm amazed that i seem to be running the game at an average of 55 to 65 FPS. Really happy i purchased this car in the long run.

edit: I spent 70 euros to have early beta access, while i couldn't draw much of a conclusion of battlefield 4 just yet, i can say that graphical improvements are there and the enviroment does feel a bit more realistic. It did not warrant the 70 euros for early access IMHO. Definitely won't be regretting ths purchase had it not been the extra money for beta access.

Oh well. Crap happens.

However, since i want to be 100% sure all problems have been resolved i'm installing battlefield 3 now as type and i shall monitor the fps's behaviour. I'm guessing it's no longer the case. I'll edit this post to keep you updated.

To the guy who said he wants to purchase a 7950, by all means man, do it. If anything it's my system/card that's at fault. This card has been running very well since the day i've had it up to this sudden moment here. :-)

edit: Lol.. can't believe my overreaction made me spend money on a new pc case too. Hahah, sometimes i just pitty myself, what an idiot. *taps self on head* - at least the cooler master enforcer doesn't look too bad and actually has an interior design, unlick this excuse for a pc case
..., at least i won't have this nasty case with a plastic foil covering the huge holes in the front entrance so that not too much dust accumulates in it, hahaha.

Having a good case with good airflow is never really a bad thing. And I was kind of tossing between the GTX 760 and the HD 7950 after having my GTX 260 so long before it broke but after looking into it more I'm 75% sure I'm going to get the 7950. The specs just make it more of a future proof option. Interested in the results you get with BF3 fps drops.
