There’s only three things Nvidia could actually do to make this statement even somewhat true: release a new powerful GPU (titan ultra, GTX 790, GTX 880), lower the price of the ridiculously expensive current GPUs, or create their own 4k monitor which doesn’t cost 10x~15x more than a single 1080p monitor.
It’s clear Nvidia has nothing in their hands to answer to the upcoming ATI GPUs. If this is all they have to come up with then I think it’s clear that we’re not going to see anymore new GPUs in 2013 nor price drops.
I didn't know nVidia had to have an "answer" to something that hasn't even been released yet. Titan came out in Feb and now it's October, it's AMD who has taken their sweet time coming up with an answer and allowed nVidia to drive prices through the roof. AMD's last flagship single-GPU card was released in Dec 2011
Of course price drops will come once AMD starts competing with 780/Titan, nVidia will finally have a reason to drop the price. Competition drives price drops.
E.g. Intel charges $800-1100 for their flagship CPU's purely because they have zero competition at that level..Edited by Tippy - 10/1/13 at 7:25pm
