Well,

Did you install windows? If not then start there. If you did install windows then what's the error message? Is it going through the install correctly? Are you installing from a DVD or a USB stick?

Etc. Etc, we need more information please.

Regards

Hi
Trying to install win 7, but it does not see the ssd. I have been told its something to do with the UEFI,???
OK hold up

inside your machine you will have a number of SATA ports, can you please tell me the number of the port you are using, better yet have you tried using different ones? Also you need to set your hard drive type to AHCI rather than IDE.

Under system information can you see the SSD in there?

Comp^ is right on the AHCI setting, though I would speculate that AHCI is set by default on a newer motherboard. Also, reset your BIOS and make sure that ALL overclocking (whether manual or automatic) is shut off. I've had an instance where an unstable overclock hindered the BIOS reading the SATA port(s). Try those steps and get back to us.

Compuman145 is correct. Set the bios to ahci and if that does not work try plugging the sata into another port. The bios is set to ide by default.

I just re installed Windows on a Gigabyte ga-990fxa-ud3 and Samsung 840 Pro last night. If you set the board to optimized settings it should see your SSD and load windows from the disk.

Ok, reset the mob to optimized settings, tried that.......nothing, reset mob again, went into bios and set AHCI, still nothing, it does spin up the dvd drive, goes as far as "load windows" then various blue screens, or even white boxes eg no drive found,

getting desperate here, this is the first failure i have had in building computers sighhhhhhh, it MUST be something to do with AHCI

I have tried all different ports as well

Thanks Again All mad.gif
