Need some advice please.

Hi guys ! Don't be rude, it's my first time here. So here's my problem:

I made my first custum (and affortable) gaming PC two years ago and I'm ready for an upgrade

This is my actual setup

Asrock z68 Extreme 3 Gen 3 Mobo
Intel 2500k stock clock
8G of Corsair Vengeance dual channel ram
Asus GTX560TI Top
Enermax Modu87+ 700W Gold certified PSU
Corsair Carbide 500R (white edition) tower

I'm planning on upgrading the stock CPU cooler to something beefier to be able to do my first CPU overlock (something mild around 4.2-4.5GHZ) but I need some advice for my next video card.

At the beginning, I was hoping to just add another GTX560TI, going SLI and calling it a day but I heard that I would be limited by the Vram. I'm playing on a 27'' HD LED monitor with 1920 x 1080 resolution on ultra setting with BF3. I want the exact same thing and room for more but this time, with BF4.

So, I tought next that a HD7970 would be a great bang for the buck until I saw all those weird overheating problems, RMA and others horror stories. I'm not so sure anymore ...

Now I'm looking toward the new GTX770. I should expect the same performance than a OC GTX680 but it's a bit more pricey than the HD7970. So which one should I buy and why ? Or do you have a better solution ? I'm still open to crossfire and sli setup but I want to have some room for the future.

Around 600$ is my budget for the new video card, the cpu cooler and hopefully, a SDD. Thx !

7970 is a great bang for buck card.
samsung 830 - goes on sale for $89.99 quite a bit
h100 is a great cpu cooler

You should have some left over with these components.

Thx for the advice. Do I need to care about the overheating problem with the 7970 or it'snt a issue now and the manufacturers solved the problem ?

I never heard of any overheating problems with the 7970, infact, I've heard more overheating problems on Nvidia cards. I'd go 7970, it's a great card, especially for price. Or you can wait for newer AMD cards.

Ditto on 7970, but wait until the 8th. That's when they're releasing information on the R9-280X which is the 7970 refresh. At the very least 7970 prices might drop some for you. The corsair h100 is an ok cooler, it does the job with a minimum of fuss and Corsair has excellent customer service.

OP if you have a budget of around USD 400, the R9 290 aka Hawaii Pro GPU is the one to get. wait for Oct 15th to get more info as reviews go up. if you want to spend less go for HD 7970. since you mention BF4, AMD cards are going to have the edge due to Mantle. the Sapphire HD 7970 OC is a good option. unlocked voltage and good cooler.

also various R9 280X cards are launching after Oct 8th when reviews go up for that card. price is USD 300.

I would go with hd 7950cfx instead of 770gtx. Same price with performance of gtx titan, mantle, more vram, stuttering problem fixed.
