To put it simple, electron migration is a degrading factor present in electrical components which can be described as a bi-factor of electrical current. The higher the current, the faster the degrading factors. Do I know exactly what it is? No. Do I know what causes it? Yes, voltage / current. Do I know what it does? Yes, degrades the performance of your electrical component over the long run.

I have been reading up on it recently, if I learn anything, I will let you know.

I have the e6600 and im running stable at 3.6ghz. my idle is 40c and load about 46c witch is crazy because it seems i can go higher but dont want to.The only thing i change in bios is my vcore and fsb. My fsb is set to 1600 unlinked so the memory stays the same at 800mhz and my volts are at 1.46.Keep in mind i do have a very well ventalated case with custom fans and a asus cpu cooler... if i used stock stuff id overheat....So keep it cool and Overclock! oh p.s im using the p5n-e asus sli motherboard

This is a three year old thread...but it's good to look back upon our past!
