R9 290 --> 7950 replacement
280X = 7970
280 = 7950?
270X = 7870
Please fill in the blanks for the rest.
R9-290X = new flagship Hawaii chip, TrueAudio , etc etc
R9-290 = unspecified specifications , probably Hawaii Pro , cut down from binned/non-working/non-optimal R9-290X
R9-280X = bad copy of HD7970GE (Tahiti XT), lower stock clocks... so unless TDP is much lower (200W) it's pretty pointless other than for marketing
R9-280 = unannounced, probably HD 7950 Tahiti PRO
R9-270X is Tahiti LE or Pitcairn with more shaders so it's a HD7870/HD7870XT replacement basically
R7-260X is pretty much a HD7790 replacement
*it's rumored to be renamed Bonaire XTX w/ TrueAudio
* the $139 pricetag suggests this also
* 128 bit memory bus
* The only thing going for it is TrueAudio... because for $139 you can almost grab a $160 HD7870 on sale or GTX 660 on sale
The R9 260X is a HD 7790 rebrand, just as we’ve reporting for few weeks already. It is equipped with Bonaire XTX GPU which has 896 cores, 56 texture mapping units and 16 ROPs. The core clock is 1100 MHz and memory clock is 1625 MHz (6.5 GHz). Card is using 2GB GDDR5 memory across 128-bit interface.
Radeon R7 250 under $100
* all we know is at GPU'14 they said 1GB of DRAM / 2,000+ firestrike
R7-240 ... pointless
320 Streaming Multiprocessors, 20 texture units and only 8 ROPs. The clocks are pretty much the same as in my previous entry about this model. Core clock is 780 MHz, leaving 1000+ levels for R7 250.
^ for HP/Dell/crap boxes , it's weaker than the 512 shader HD7750 (clocked at 800Mhz, 1125Mhz GDDR5) and the uneventful HD7730 (384 shader @800Mhz , 1125Mhz GDDR5) and definitely not int he same league as the HD7770Ghz with 640 shaders
* Richland A10-6800k comes with 384 shaders. Kaveri will come with 512 shaders. This R7-240 is about as pointless as GDDR3 GPUs
Videocardz may have confused the R7-240 and R7-250 but who cares, they're not worth buying in 2014
. Even the R7-260X is barely relevant if it is Bonaire XTXEdited by AlphaC - 10/2/13 at 4:01pm
