I'm seeing a lot of arguments on Laing D5 vs DCC. http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?279265-Which-pump-should-i-choose-D5-or-DDC

I should also note that I already have 2 Enermax T.B silence fans attached to one of these:

I really like the fans but I HATE the pump on this thing, it has a lot of air stuck in it and temps can get to 94c. I've remounted it 4 times now and I'm sure I'm doing a good job with the thermal paste (Prolimitech PK-3). But because temps/performance are so bad right now it's not 100% out of the question to get a waterblock for this processor, which I could then sell off a few months later when I upgrade.

O jesus, 94 on a 6 core? yeah dump it keep fans. Grab a raystorm or koolance block to use then sell. Main differences...

d5- stronger, quieter, cooled by the water in loop

ddc- smaller, air cooled, convenient for small loops

What's even more scary is the fact that they say you need to add 20c for an accurate temp readout on the FX series.. Is this really true? Am I cooking my 6350 at 115c?

D5 it is then! Should I get more of these fans to match? I love the little RPM switches they have! biggrin.gif Great build quality too! Should I throw out the radiator or can it be used for something provided I cut off the bottom half of the monstrosity? IDEA! Can I open it and try to fix it now before I even get new stuff? It would be amazing if I could at least stop the clicking/gurgling and didn't have to shake my whole case to get it to quiet down.

EDIT: Raystorm looks fantastic! http://www.xs-pc.com/waterblocks-cpu/raystorm-cpuapu-waterblock-amd Not too pricey either. smile.gif

Those fans are alright, not sure of the sp rating but by looking at the rpm and blade design probably around 1.2 max Ill send ya a bunch of suggestions tomorrow, off for the night!. Yes d5 all the way. I wouldn't hack up the CLC, just leave it, not worth the hassle for such a meh rad as far a custom loop goes. I mean go for it but have a stock air or some backup. Raystorm is one of the best and well priced. usually fits in with any system. its what I run, other good ones too, catch ya tomorrow

Yes the static pressure was my main concern, I don't want to have to run these at their max setting because it's way to loud. I'll leave the CLC alone for now since it's all I have and I'll be looking forward to more suggestions tomorrow. Thanks!

My setup is now the 3 stock NZXT fans (undervolted) intaking at the front, 2x SP120s in push w/ the H105 out of the top, and the one AF140 (undervolted) exhausting warm air out the back.

I'd be open to suggestions from everyone on my temps or opinions... do they suck?
...

Those temps are fine and good and it looks real nice too with all the black and red throughout! 3x 120s up front pushing a wall of air in should make for lot's of good airflow! I have one question about the max temp reading, was your gpu also loaded at the time?

Ok, maybe 2 questions smile.gif

How much impact on cpu temps does the load on the gpu have?

How old is that CLC? Sounds like its got air in the loop and is just not doing anywhere near a good enough job keeping your cpu cool. I'd think about lowering the OC until you have a better cooling solution.

I think I got it in august 2013? It's been like this the whole time but for some reason I didn't return it before the 30 days and that was that. At this point I don't care if I'm potentially reducing the life of my CPU because I need the performance. It's not like I run it at those temps though, that only happens in prime95 after a few minutes. In Far Cry 3 it's usually in the low to mid 80's. Right now it's idling at 44c.

Those readings were with prime95 which just stresses the CPU. I haven't really worked the GPU at all (Titanfall tomorrow :-) yet but I'm sure others can chime in on how the GPU affects other temps. At least that big 140 should blow most of that heat out as it rises from the GPU. Or at least that's what I hope! Thanks for the compliments there's a lot of red and black builds out there I think it looks good not too original though these days ;-). I'd like to see more color options from NZXT...
