no, this would cause an IP conflict. You want to change the SSID under the wireless settings.

Well that's its set that way now but it just seems nothing is connecting to the ap and connecting to the router instead.

do you have the wireless password set the same in both routers? Also, have you set the second router to a different channel from the first? They need to be on different wireless channels.

PS - how do you know they aren't using the second AP? If its because of the "connected device list" on the main router, you can't rely on that...its just showing devices its dished out a DHCP address to, NOT the wireless connection they are using to get it.

I'll try that when i get back from school, i feel device aren't connecting to it because the room with the AP is really close and the wireless signal is to low to be using the AP.

You don't need anything that specifically points at router 1, just disable DHCP on router 2. Clients will associate to the SSID (keep SSID and authentication the same, use WPA2 for preauthorization roaming) and then receive the DHCP information from router 1, defining their default gateway when they obtain an IP address.

It is required to connect both devices together using the LAN ports. If you use router 2's WAN port you'll be in a double NAT situation.
