Upgrading in Preparation for BF4

Hi all,

I need to upgrade my graphics card and by the looks of it there are 3 different options.

One being GTX 670 SLI, adding one more card onto my current system will give SLI but I don't really like the idea of having two cards... My second option being the GTX 780 at 600 USD where I live, and the third being the option where I buy a R9 290X.

Would like some input on this. Thanks!

Why don't you like having tow cards ? 670 SLI would be a more economical approach

the 650 could do it, but personally would use something bigger especially if pushing the envelope

780 vs 290 is the question, not putting a lot of stake in reviews I would say wait for retail to find out for sure, then simply go with what prforms best.

Also keep in mind 290's will be bundled with BF4 so you get the game for free thumb.gif

SLI GTX 670 would be by far the most economical or powerful solutions. In my opinion, it's not worth upgrading from a 670 to a 780 at that price. There's also a word going around that NVIDIA will drop its prices or at least do something to counter AMD. I'd wait until around mid October to have everything confirmed.

OP wait for Oct 15th reviews and then decide. R9 290 and R9 290X seem to be very promising. 4GB VRAM, massive bandwidth and then there is Mantle. so once you have all the info on R9 290 cards price and performance you can pull the trigger.

The issue I have with NVIDIA is that League of Legends crashes on spectator mode and in ARAM constantly, so that's why I want to move away from NVIDIA.

Well then the 780 and 670 should not be upon the selections,

Possibly Xfire 7950s or 290x

You may be able to find some cheap 7970 GHz editions once the new cards are out

The worry with SLI is the issues that I may encounter with certain games, and issues to do with heat. I live in a pretty tropical country where it's pretty much hot all year round and I just want a single card solution for this.

Well AMD seems to have a handle on BF4 so far. My crossfire 7970Ghz editions running great. Other games I am not able to comment.
