7970 Eyefinity with Mini display port to VGA

Hey, im trying to run AMD eyefinity, but i cant seem to change the resolution on my monitor that is connected with my mini display from my GPU. It's stuck at 640x480... I cant change it. Don't know why, its a mac adapter though, since i had a spare lying around.

You need an active DisplayPort to DVI adapter to run Eyefinity, assuming you're using the DVI and HDMI outputs with the other two monitors. They're not very expensive. Buy a proper brand one though, cheaper ones tend to fail from my experience.

Could you recommend me one?

Here's a thread with some info on the subject if you're interested.

The Sapphire one listed in that thread is for regular DisplayPort to dual-link DVI. Sapphire also has an active mini DisplayPort version (For single link DVI) that'll work on your setup. That one doesn't require USB power either. I used one of those with my 7950, which worked well. It's one of these.

EDIT: Also, you can't go from an adapter like that over to VGA. You'll have to use DVI from the adapter to your monitor since the adapter only supports DVI-D, which is DVI without the analogue signal that VGA uses. Just figured I'd mention that since you originally were trying to use VGA.

Once again, thanks for the reply. I don't need to be using VGA, i just happened to have a spare one of the mini display to vga lying around. I can have Mini - DVI or Mini - HDMI either way works as long as it's mini display.

The Sapphire adaptor mentioned is $33 at CPL, but here is a great site that gives you the best price.
