Hello and thanks for taking time to review. I am looking for sub $150 motherboard for overclocking FX Vis.

These are the boards I'm currently considering - but I'm open to suggestions. I will use closed watercooling.

MSI 990FXA-GD65V2 ATX AMD Motherboard

ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0 ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS

GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 AM3+ AMD 990FX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard ( Are the Gigabyte v3 boards still a problem? )

What FX are you planning on overclocking?

The MSI and Gigabyte boards are only good for 4XXX and 6XXX cpus. It would take an expert to keep them alive with an 8XXX cpu.

Fx6350 or Fx8350 - Been waffling back and forth. What causes the issue with 8 core? Is it digital VRM vs analog?

I have heard that the power support in the MSI GD65 is a little weak for the 8XXX cpu. I have a GD80 and it runs nice and cool. I do not know what MSI did to make the GD65 so much cheaper.

The UD3 runs hot. I had a rev 3 and rev 4 and they ran too hot and also had bad bios. The rev 3 got so hot it warped from the heat and the rev 4 was throttling at stock clocks. I could not even get a baseline with it.

Seriously, if you go 8350 get a motherboard that can handle it. Don't skimp here.
