This is confusing me, so really all they have at high end is something to combat the gtx 780 with a price speculation of $650-$800 and then a 7970 refresh(the r280x) at $300. That is a massive gap, they really need something at that sweet spot most people go for, i.e the $400 range(gtx 770 etc).

Seeing how AMD is being quiet about it...They'll likely do a followup release once they get Nvidia's response to the 290X, if priced competitively that is....They'll have to somehow respond to the rumored GTX 770Ti as well which is a good possibility for that delay.

While filling that gap is necessary and will surly get filled, it's far from the sweet spot. The 7k series sweet spot is the 7850. Cards over $300 do not sell like the sub-$200 zone. On this site, that's a different story lol.
