Thread Starter
refering to http://www.overclock.net/t/1368014/looking-for-am3-or-am3-mobo-that-supports-crossfire-at-x16-instead-of-x4-or-x8

i have 2 xfx hd7770

970 pro3 r2

phenom II X4 965 3.4GHZ

8 GIG 1600 corsair

now with a very cheap ace 750 w psu

with the following connections

3 x sata

motherboard is a 8 pin i have 4 to 8 pin power

one card has a 6pin

im using the molex line to run 2-4 120mm fanns and a molex to 6 pin pcie

the mobo crossfire runs 1x 16@2.0

second one 1x4@2.0

i looking to change a couple of bits

PSU = OCZ ZS Series 750W 80+ Bronze PSU with 135mm Fan & single +12V Rail
MOBO = AsRock 990FX Extreme3 Motherboard

will i see a difference

as the 990fx runs both at x16 not 16 - x4

thank hope you got this

Honestly you probably won't see the difference since the 7770 can't use the bandwidth of an x4 slot.

If you do see a gain, it will be very minimal.

Check out this article about gtx480 SLI cards comparing x16 to x8
