Beyerdynamic MMX 300 + sound card. - Page 2

cuad, please stop with that. I am anti-audiophile because of a lot of things really, and there is so much BS in the industry. Howeve, I do wwork with audio and I can tell you that I would not get any work if I was mastering via ALC898 or any other existing onboard solution.

It just sounds like you either have no idea what the actual differences are, or you don't have the equipment to show them. For example, short ofmy Grado PS1000/GS1000's, which are four figure headphones and the sound quality to match, the TiHD and ZxR sounds almost identical.

Regarding sound cards, the Titanium HD is in my opinion the best option on the market, as CMSS3D is in every single way superior to the lackluster and annoying Dolby Headphones.

There have been some very good suggestions by the members.

You have a limited budget which kind of limits you to lower end asus cards which I cannot recommend. The drivers and interface are atrocious. Even the unified drivers have their problems. However if you are set on them, the dx/dsx do have decent audio quality. The dgx isn't that much better than onboard sq wise but has more features. And you won't need the amp unless you upgrade to high impedance phones down the road. Dolby headphones on the other hand are regarded as inferior to cmss3d or sbx surround but better than Razer surround.

If you can get a TiHD for around 80 euros (i have seen some go that low, albeit on rare occasions, or even used) then I would go with that. Second to that would be the sound blaster z for around 80-100 euros. TIHD will be superior in audio quality especially from headphone out so that should be your priority. You can always add an external amp to the TiHD later too like the magni(great value) or asgard2(tons of power).

But either of the creative cards over the Asus IMHO.

And i agree with the fact that the mmx300 is way overpriced. Get a DT 770 80/32 ohm(similar/same drivers) for half the price basically and add a zalman mic or the mod mic. I have used both and they have good audio quality. Then you will have more money for the sound card.

Just my opinion. Any option will be better than onboard though.

Happy hunting.
