Which Phone for My Needs?

Thread Starter
Hey guys.

I'm making the switch from iOS to Android (finally) and can't quite decide on what I want to get.

What I want:
-Solid build quality
-Decent amount of GB because I do take a lot of videos and pictures
-Nice, big screen with good colors that are vivid
-Speaker quality to be decent (not a biggie for me)

And finally: features! I read so many features that phones like the S4 have and I am curious to which one has a lot. Some may not be useful to me, but who knows maybe I can find a use for them once in a while.

Apologize if I'm being vague on somethings, but I really have no clue what to get. Thanks a lot.

Big question is what network are you on?

Also price?

I have the S4 GPE i suppose the standard subsidized s4 is just as good but sound quality is fantastic. The regular S4 also has an sd slot where you can store a lot. Pretty much meets all of your stipulations.

I don't really like the touchwiz version but you could always flash a custom rom if it bugs you.

Stupid me.

I'm on ATT. Also price range, (I'm buying used) will be $450. I'm stuck between the S4 and the HTC One (fairly common, I know.) I like the S4 since you can add a SD card for more space. I like the HTC One though for its solid build quality and from what I hear, has a better camera for taking pictures in the day time. Also it seems like HTC has better sound.

ATT and good pictures/videos?

You need a Nokia 925 or 1020.

BEHOLD

Sorry, I know it's not Android, but your'e asking what fits your needs tongue.gif

I guess I worded it wrong. I do take a lot of videos and pictures, but that isn't like my #1 need for my next phone. I should have also added I listen to music everyday on my phone. I hear something like the HTC One has good speakers, but sound pretty bad for listening to music with your headphones. I'll still consider the Nokia though. I am also considering the S4 though.

just thought that maybe these pics would change your mind smile.gif

I put too much emphasis on the external speakers for the phones. Sure, the HTX One has "better" speakers, but they still suck to the max. Still sounds like a phone, and still not very loud. I think the SG4 is actually louder, just not as good in quality. Still, both are just phone speakers.

I mean I'm not going to not consider Windows but I'd like to see what other recommend for Android. Those pictures do look amazing though.. drool.gif

The external speakers themselves on the phone are not as important to me as how the actual music playing quality is. I do hear a lot of HTC One user's say it sounds distorted, and buzzy. I haven't heard the S4 having an issue like that though.

Why not consider the motorolla X - ? I dislike S4 because of all the bloatware

I have the Lumia 1020, takes awesome pics/video, and music sounds great through the headphones. The built in music player was weird, but I just downloaded a free one thats not the best, it does have a quirk or two, but works good enough for me. I went from iOS to android with a Galaxy S3, it wasn't for me, to me it felt like a complicated version of iOS. The tiles for the 1020 are really nice and can be extremely customized in placement and size. Yes there are less apps for windows phones, but I only use a handful of apps anyway. Another nice thing about the 1020 is I was able to delete the pre-loaded apps on the phone that I don't use. The S4 does have some nice features, but I feel they are more gimmicky than truly useful imo. The Lumia 1020 is also very expensive for screen replacement, my kid knocked mine out of my shirt pocket and it shattered, still worked though but $350 to have replaced.
