Thanks for all the info regarding VDI setup. I'm going to get a standalone rack for the router/firewall. I remember looking at them awhile back ago and just forgot about them. When I do make this build, was going to put ssd's in for the server and use either sata or sas hdd's for the storage and backups. When I do finally get this up and running, acouple of the vm's will be running simultaneously while i work and study on the ceh certificate.besides the vm thats running the file sharing i'll have a completely separate network so i can attack the other vm's.

Unrelated to your build, I say skip the C-EH Certification and go for your GSEC. I will also say that if the only IT certification you have is your C-EH, that will be frowned up on your resume because you will look malicious. If you are new to IT, I would recommend A+, Net+, Sec+ (to get your basics), then GSEC, then CEH. From there, start considering the SSCP and/or CISSP. If your interest lies with Windows security, there is the GCWN. Pen testing, there is GPEN. Network security, CCNA Security. Etc.
