Ok I am having a issue I cannot figure out have googled this several times and Tried several didfferent solutions to fix this. The Problem I am having now with my new set up the MSI Z87 G45/ 4770k. MY usb flash drives will not work when plugged into any usb port but they do work on on my other system which is just laptop, Both systems are running windows 7 home premium 64 bit. On new system it tells me the device is unrecognized. The usb ports do work I have tried all ports front and back have plugged mouse and keyboard to all the usb 2.0 ports. Any help or fix for this would be awesome.

Same motherboard and processor here. What case are you using? I was using corsair 500r and I had plugged the case's front firewire into the lower internal usb port on my motherboard. Some started working after I disconnected it.

My first question would be if you have installed the driver for intel usb 3.0?

some systems / motherboards require drivers to be installed from the motherboard's manufature website to run as they are advertised. in my case i had to install all sorts of USB drivers listed on the site for them to work as they should or else i would be getting all kinds of bugs, hangs, and other bad stuff.

so visit the motherboard's manufacture and look for any USB related drivers and download/install them, restart and see if it works then.

Sorry for no response lately yes I hve the 3.0 driver installed but when I look at usb 3.0 host controller under devices says this device not working. If I plus my mouse or keyboard into any of the usb 2.0 ports they work only problem im having is with flash drives, they flash drives work on every system except this new one.

Second problem I just had was the front case usb3 port on the motherboard. There was a bent pin on that and was shorting the usbs. What case are you mounted in? My corsair 500r makes it difficult to plug in this plug, but the corsair c70 is fine.

I am using the HAF XM case, so far has been great case. Have built 2 systems so far using this case in both. Im still baffled with this problem. everything usb wise works except the flash drives. so the ports are working. just not the flash drives, but the flash drives work on other systems, im thinking maybe a driver problem, or even chipset problem, I just havent heard of anyone else with this board having this issue though.
