On the other hand, a flash to turn an non ghz 7970 just came out, and people are trying to dump their 7970 stock, so it is really a wash unless you want to make a pretty SLI, or know whether 11.2 will matter or not.
Ill wait a week then just to see. But 11.2 is it actually used by bf4? just wondering since you would think since game is bundled.

But if people buy them people can post there results here amd cant act on that its only big news places. Im sure there will be accurate benchmarks before then someone will go early.

well we already know what it's going to bench. it's a 7970ghz with an xfx double D cooler. IMHO the only unknown ramification is 11.2, and how that will affect future games now that AMD effectively owns game development.

Well that, and what they are going to charge for it of course.

Is there any reason to believe this will OC better than a 7970?
than a reference 7970? Slightly, as long as you are using the stock cooler. It does come pre flashed, and has what is now considered a non reference cooler. If you WANT the original 7970 reference cooler for whatever reason (there are a few why you might) the old card is more useful than the new one. Everything I;ve read says the silicon is identical though. all the changes are software and stock cooling. Of course there could be some sort of funky surprise, like say it doing SLI better. Personally I kinda doubt it.

Not unless theyre clocked higher out of the box with higher memory, might overclock higher too - kind of like 770s
