New 670 power edition not overclockable?

Thread Starter
Just picked up a second 670 PE for sli recently and they both run great in sli. My first one is about a year old. I can take it up to 1280 @ 1.3v max. If I want more I have to flash my bios to break the 1.3 limit. I can change voltage in afterburner fine with the older card.

Now my second card runs at stock 1215 boost @ I believe 1.15-1.176 volts. When I try to push it to 1228 clock speed it crashes within a minute. I don't know if 1215 is the max or the voltage slider is not working for newest card. No matter what voltage I use it black screens then spazzes out then resets the driver. Sometimes it recovers sometimes it doesn't.

If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. Thank you!

I had a similar issue when I purchased a new Asus GTX 670 DCu II. Any attempt of trying to overclock my card or increase voltage would cause a lockup/crash.

Might be a general issue with new GTX 670s? I got my 2nd from the UK.

Sorry I couldn't help.

I'm thinking I don't have enough juice in this psu to overclock. My psu is a 750w txv2 psu from corsair. It's powering a 3570k @ 4.6 and 2 670 pe cards. Maybe not enough power? I lowered both cards to 1150 core clock and no crashing.

hi mate.
I bought MSI 670 PE a few weeks ago and the max I could get out of her is 1267 on the core and +350 on the mem. the voltage goes to 1,175 by default under load, and I still didn't find any way to increase it, at least to 1,215 if possible :-(.
I tried AB (old and new versions) & nvidia inspector.
my ASIC is 83,2% if that matters. what's yours?
AFAIK there is no way to increase the core V without messing around with BIOS which I don't want to do.

I was looking at this thread but still no one with 670 come forward confirming that it works.

If you find something please write here cos I've been researching for days with no luck and loosing hope I'll ever see any possible increase on the core V.

cheers.
