how much space on the SSDs? looking for only maybe 200gb per drive or less/more? nic space wont be a problem :]

I'd probably want at least 256GB of local storage just so I'm not running out of space after 3-4 VM's.

Ok, heres what i got for a single server config for you (havent searched for better prices which im sure could be found)

CPU: 2 x Intel Xeon E5-2620 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117269

Ram: Kingston 32GB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820239234

Mobo: SUPERMICRO MBD-X9DRL-3F-O http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813182343

Case/Psu: SUPERMICRO SuperChassis CSE-732D2-865B http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811152171

SSDs : 2 x Mushkin Enhanced 120GB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820226424

Nic: Intel EXPI9301CTBLK http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833106033

Something along those lines as thats going to give you a higher combined core count along with a good amount of upgradeability for future expansion. This is just a quick base line, SSDs and such can be changed and there are def better deals out there on some of this but for a single server this would do you well. This is one you could upgrade even further down the road with a higher core as should support the 12 core / 24 thread parts which means you should be able to keep this rig chuggin away for a while yet as it supports up to 48 cores/threads and 256gb of ram. This would be the kind of build if you plan to expand :]

with that CPU setup you could probably combined what would have been 2 servers into a single one and would still have cores left over biggrin.gif

also it has dual integrated lan, not sure if you need more but you could save a bit of money cutting the nic for now if you dont need it right away
