Help! I'm confused and lost...

Hi,

I have a strange issue that I can't solve right now....

I use my motherboard's onboard audio (Maximus VI HERO S1150).

I own a pair of Steelseries Siberia V2 headphones & a Logitech 2.1 Z553 & a desk mic (el cheapo).

The only port that I use is the mobo's back 1/8" audio jack OUT for the Logitech set and the IN for the mic. Front panel is not even connected.

When I listen to music during the day or game on my own, I use the speakers. IF I'm on Teamspeak/ at night, I plug in the headset (green only) into the "volume knob" or the logitech speaker set.

Now. Sometimes, I get audio thru the 1/8" audio OUT on the knob (music plays), but if I remove the headphone jack, NO SOUND from the speakers...

I'm puzzled.

I run Win 7 64 bits home premium (all updated), all MOBO drivers/BIOS up to date.

I get two speaker symbols in the taskbar..the windows one, and the REALTEC HD one.....

Any tricks, stuff that I overlook? The problem happened 3-4 times, and I don't know what I do, it starts working again at some point.

All connections seem to be tight....

Speaker failure? The set is 3 months-old maximum...I might bring it back to the store....

Any ideas folks?

Most likely it's speaker problem.
You can try replugging the speakers to mobo or try the headset on the mobo while the speakers are silent.
If they both stay silent, it's mobo problem.

Thx for the answer,

I can assure you that the MOBO audio out (light green) on the REAR I/O is working fine 100%.

Now, I can only hear music/play games by plugging my headphones in the REAR I/O OR in the "volume knob/remote" headphone jack...

RMAing a set of speakers (heavy/bulky) is not sometime I'm looking for mad.gif

I bought those at Staples and I don't think Staples will help me, besides reminding me that I should've got their "in-house extended warranty" lol...

I found the issue...

If I tap on the Subwoofer (that contains the AMP and most circuits), it starts pumping music again.

So it's got to be a hardware issue, maybe a cold solder or something in there.....RMA time.
