Worth going $30 extra for the 4gb 770? $399 vs $431

Only $430 for the windforce 4gb 770.

Sending back my 760 as the performance wasn't there and I didn't get batman bundled for free, so amazon have offered to trade it for the upgrade I want and get batman bundled, while waving one day shipping for free.

Was just going to go for the exact same model as my 760 but the 770 version.

Can a 770 even utilize 4gb of vram without running out of fps power first, if you get what I mean? It seems like a smart move $30 for an extra 2gb of vram, unless the 770 can't even power 3gb+.

I would say yes, I have that card myself and it is awesome. Bioshock infinite and the BF4 beta use more than 2GB as well as a few other games at 1080p and it runs great.

I would if you like eye candy, game above 720p and like mods.

it'll be worth the extra 30 in the long run if you don't plan on getting another card, even if you do plan to and SLI, its just that much more vram you can potentially use. tongue.gif

I can tell you in bf4, even at 720p it uses almost 2gb of Vram when playing on ultra, so if you game at 1080p that 4gb will come in handy now and down the road.

Ye It's worth it for sure if it can be utilized, I have also been contemplating 1440p for a while. This could finally push me to get one one of those korean monitors.

I remember there were a few articles though on the 670 and the 680 where the 4gb versions actually had fewer fps than the 2gb versions, as the cards just were not made for 4gb. Though if the 770 can actually use 4gb to it's fullest without running out of power first then I am more than happy to pay for the 4gb version.

I would look up benchmarks if your planning on gaming at 1440p, you may not have the "umphf" with a 770 to push games at that res with higher settings, even with the 4gb.

here is a thread that someone benched crysis 3 at 1440p with a 770.

even with 770's SLI there may be times you go under 30fps with some games.
