But for the 920 running STOCK and 6-8 green HDD's doing the tasks already stated it'll be "o" "k", enough for the job:D

Yeah well I was busy writing the previous post when you posted but yes.

It basically was always going to be but handy for a little bit of feedback, It'll be my first time on anything newer than the 920 on team Intel.

Oh. Well, then I think you're in for a little bit of a pleasant surprise. Maybe not a huge surprise, but perhaps a little one. The 2500K is quite a CPU.

It's a computer!

In the HTPC/Server, what ever ended up in the gamer IS getting a FLOGGING of an OC

I'll be pushing the 2500K with as much juice as needed to hit 5.0 devil.gif

P.S. Just noticed I've been on this forum for 4 years, crap the years are passing, need to start folding again I may think

The HT will benefit the HTPC/Server and the never tech in the 2500K will aid the gaming and general day to day speedier experience.

Thanks for the input all and feel free to add any more coments as I'll start the new setup for the gamer tonight but due to LACK of time I'll be playing with this for a few weeks by the time I finish the HTPC/Server also

just make sure to keep vcore as low as possible on the HTPC, nehalem can still run very cool with low~moderate volts, my 920 did 3.7 GHz on stock & 4 GHz at 1.312v which gave 81c with my true thats now on ivy bridge, uncore/memory multi can reduce temps slightly ie a 6x memory w/12x uncore gave 1-2c less than 8x/16x even at the same volts, small but was noticably repeatable.

or since you have a good 920 another option is to moderately overclock like to 3.6GHz & maybe even have an undervolt from stock for temps/power(920 DOES pull its power thats for sure) or even stock if thats fast enough for the max undervolt possible (most seem to cap at 0.80v).
