You may be partially correct. For some reason, the Playstation 4 itself says "Coming Soon" just like the 290x's. Perhaps games use a different system? idk

Sorry, the following is going to look like an attack. It's not my intention, but it's important to me that I break down everything you said and address each part; Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

I do indeed.

Info on the 290X was presented in a non-streamed NDA session in Hawaii. We have since seen at least some info about it. Neither of these statements apply to any dual gpu cards.

So because there's no comment on a card NOT existing, it must therefore exist? Does that sort of logic make sense to you?

Sure, two chips could be around $1k. If the chips are cut down, it could even be less than $1k. AMD has previously stated they have no intention of selling any card around that price point.

Anything is possible, but all comments thus far (especially those comments referring to SPECS of such a card) are completely unfounded.

Yes, you can't do pre-orders for an R9 290X on Newegg. The link you provided there is a Battlefield 4 on Playstation 4.

I think it is because Newegg can/will only do pre-orders on things that have a set price. Is the price of the PS4 set yet? The games all have an actual price attached.

So because there's no comment on a card NOT existing, it must therefore not exist? Apparently this sort of logic makes perfect sense.

Again, where are you getting this from? The only thing AMD mentioned is that they hand no intention of selling a SINGLE GPU Solution at the 1k price...

Here is the entire quote that you seem to think imples that AMD will never release a Dual-GPU solution at the 1k price. Please clarify where it states that there is no intent for such a product...

You’re holding a press event in the near future to discuss your next-generation Radeon series, but what can you tell me right now?

“They’re coming in Q4. I can’t reveal a pricepoint but we’re looking at more traditional enthusiast GPU pricepoints. We’re not targeting a $999 single GPU solution like our competition because we believe not a lot of people have that $999. We normally address what we call the ultra-enthusiast segment with a dual-GPU offering like the 7990. So this next-generation line is targeting more of the enthusiast market versus the ultra-enthusiast one.

“It’s also extremely efficient. [Nvidia's Kepler] GK110 is nearly 30% bigger from a die size point of view. We believe we have the best performance for the die size for the enthusiast GPU.

“Another thing I can tell you is about the process node: this GPU is in 28nm. Some have speculated that it was 20nm and it’s not for a specific reason: At 28nm for an enthusiast GPU, we can achieve higher clock speeds and higher absolute performance.”

The PS4 was available for preorder at Newegg months ago and has been sold out for quite some time...

Yes, the ps4 has a set price. I pre-ordered one months ago from amazon, and Sony themselves stated the price of $400 during introduction press conferences.

Stay Puft said that newegg.com's system isn't setup for pre-ordering of items, to which I replied with a link to an item with pre-order capability.

I see where the confusion is. Let me rephrase; If there's no indication of [Object X] being created, the natural response would be to conclude [Object X] isn't being created. What you're suggesting is the opposite. tongue.gif

I appologise for putting so much emphasis on price-point. I see now how that arguement is flawed. Nevertheless, I'm getting my rationale for the non-existance of a dual-GPU card from:

Let me break that quote down:

- In the past, there's been the "ultra-enthusiast" 7990
- Dual-GPU offerings are considered to be "ultra-enthusiast" class products
- The next-generation range of cards are targeting the "Enthusiast" area, rather than the "Ultra-enthusiast" area

If there's no indication of [Object X] being created but history has shows each generation of a product lineup had a release of a product similar to [Object X], the natural response would be to conclude [Object X] will eventually be created. Yes, illogical statement can be molded to fit almost every circumstance smile.gif

Context and reading comprehension can be important... the question was about "next-generation Radeon series" that were to be discussed in the near future. GPU 14 was the reference of this discussion as it was scheduled a week and a half out from the article date. Looking back, we can see that the Hawaii GPUs were the center of discussion at the GPU14 product showcase which was centered around a single GPU lineup. So the statement that "this next-generation line is targeting more of the enthusiast market versus the ultra-enthusiast one" holds true. However, more of implies greater emphasis on one than the other. Since Dual-GPU offerings are "ultra-enthusiast" they would have LESS emphasis than their single GPU counterparts. This statement does not mean that AMD has dissolved all interest in creating a product for the "ultra-enthusiast" market.
