Those were however the first benchmarks actually made by a review-site as far as I can tell. Those werent just copies of what AMD showed at their convention but ACTUAL benchmarks run by tomshardware. Whats funny is that they said :
"There’s not much more I can say at this point, except that I have several cards tested at 3840x2160, and R9 290X doesn’t just do well against the GeForce GTX 780…
With that, I should probably get back to the lab before I get myself into trouble."
Which pretty much means it won over GTX Titan too, or it did more than "well" against the 780.
No shockers there anywhos, and untill we get a price we cant really place it price/performance wise. The best information Ive seen thus far is this :
And it lands 10-15% over 780 in every unbiased benchmark and synthetic tests, where most of us thought it would be. Linking Hitman benchmarks or any other benchmark where AMD card always did better is much like linking Furmark temps imo. And now comes the question of heat and overclockability since most of us at OVERCLOCK.net will most likely overclock our cards, and the 780 is doing fine OC-wise.
What weve heard from swedish retailers is that every card atm is a reference card, and I would love to get a third party cooler on this card. They called a friend who had it pre-ordered yesterday saying that he could get a sapphire now or a gigabyte later, but they were all doing fine overclock-wise and they were all about the same card.
