Some of the highlights:

A few new forums have been created.
  • Linux Gaming
It might not be the "year of the Linux desktop", but, we might be looking at the "year of Linux gaming" - with the new Steambox from Valve leading the way to video games on Linux entering the mainstream
  • Network Hardware
No longer do you need to debate about whether discussion of routers, switches, NICs, etc should be aligned with other peripherals or software networking.

Perhaps the biggest change is the consolidation of Intel Memory and AMD Memory. Differences in how RAM on each platform is handled have declined over the years to the point where we don't believe two separate sections are appropriate anymore.

We also moved the subforums for Peltiers / TECs, Dry Ice / LN2, and Phase Change together under a new parent. Content from the Other Cooling Discussions section and the Cooling Experiments section (which had quite a bit of overlap) now lives under Specialized Cooling, also.

The Cases and Case Mods section has been reordered and several artifacts from old Case Mod Competitions have been moved into subforums with their fellow competitions from previous years.

We've also simplified naming in several places.
  • "Tablet Computers" has become "Tablets"
  • "Mobile Phones / Smartphones / Pocket PCs" has become "Phones"

A few other forums have been removed (or will be soon). We're retiring the following subforums:
  • Kiva.org
  • Disease-Related Charities (don't worry - this initiative will live on in a more prominent place!)
  • Several old Vendor Partner forums for partners who decided to go another direction or closed up shop
  • The old, archived FAQs section from 2006
  • The old Peripherals forum, leftover from when we split into dedicated Keyboard and Mouse subforums

We hope you like the cleaner homepage and simplified structure, and also hope you make great use of the new sections created! Thanks for reading. thumb.gif

A pretty big mistake. Each section was meant to move under the new parent forum but all the threads have been thrown into that section instead.

Hopefully it can be fixed soon... :/

Indeed - miscommunication lead to about 8 thousand threads being moved into the same forum together. We have all the old content, and we're going to be moving it back to where it belongs, but that won't happen until Monday until we can get all the right people in the room to make sure the mass revert of those moves goes over without any problems. Sorry for the inconvenience!
