nvidia on the other hand works 100% of the time till you want to do something slightly beyond the ordinary and they just wont let you. the only reason im still with ATI is that ATI lets me do what i want to do without being walled
First off having used nvidia cards on and off myself since the FX days. Their drivers have not been perfect. Even currently there are a bunch of things AMD's drivers do better then Nvidia, SLI still has its own fair share of problems. Nvidia refuses to fix old problem with gtx5xx and 4xx series cards, or simply is slow at doing so. Plus game performance depending on the driver you use can vary especially with sli. Unless your blind to the truth, there are still plenty of things Nvidia does wrong with their drivers as well.
Currently AMD's Drivers work fine, Most games are smooth as butter. Great BF4 performance during the beta was also a nice little treat, as i'm sure if I still had my gtx470's it would be a laggy mess like most.
Past is the Past, can't say anything really is wrong now. There are some CF problems still being worked out, but for the most part it all works pretty well ATM. The new R7 and R9 cards will have a good history with drivers. Though Don't Forget that the drivers only affected GCN users, as GCN was new arch and drivers at release were slapped together. Pre GCN users have had it pretty good with drivers IMO. My old 4870 had way better drivers then my 8800gt ever did, and 4870CF was boss when you had the CPU power for it. Had a 4870 CF till I picked up my gtx470, and as we all know the gtx470 didn't have the best drivers at launch ether. Never Once had a CF problem that wasn't fixed in the next driver or two, same goes for my SLI. New game comes out, SLI/CF is mediocre and after a few updates works fine. Nothing new.
GCN's drivers may have been slow to develop, but now that they are pretty much to the point where they are finally optimized for GCN it should be smooth sailing. Even I have ran into a few problems so far, nothing I couldn't get around or fix, but game performance wise it works great. Nvidia still has better drivers, more trouble free experience IMO. Still doesn't mean AMD cards are worse. Game performance is top notch especially when OCing.Edited by DzillaXx - 10/4/13 at 7:16pm
