Best FAH Client for older intel 2P (8 cores total)

I have a dual 771 board that I will be folding on for a while
I have 2X Xeon E5430 quad cores, overclocked to 3.2 Ghz (Yorkfield generation) efectively they are q9770's
Currently I have 8gb ram if that matters, I have access to 16gb if needed...

Would it be worth while to try bigadv?

No, bigadv deadlines were changed last year, and the minimum core count was increased from 12 to 16 cores (or threads, the F@H software isn't too picky, it sees threads as cores).

You could definitely crunch some SMP though, should still give you descent PPD.  I'd be interested in seeing your results if you do give it a go.

Hmm, seems to be on par with a 2600k but with twice the power consumption. P7647 is one over lower PPD value SMP units too.

I actually expected the system to be pulling more power...

When you eliminate psu efficency, The system is using about 210 watts,
those fans are 2.6A, say they are running at 20% each, thats 12 watts
another 5 watts goes to my HDD
and a whopping 30 watts for the ram

that leaves only 160 for my 2 cpu's and my board,
so even OC'ed by 500 mhz the cpus are still well under TDP
