Having a weird problem with my 8350 - Page 8

Is that dual rad territory? My temps seem to be pretty cool even at 4.6ghz. I got it to run stable last night and max temp was 45c at 1.5v under load.

Yes, 240 mm radiator for 4.8ghz and above, and make sure you have good airflow around all the components in your case. Most importantly , the socket/vrm area smile.gif.

Everyone always goes banana's when I say this, but core temps above 50 C can effect stability. I am aware of the fact that 62c is the generally accepted maximum temp and some run stabily above that, but with these chips ( particularly on this board too) the cooler , the better .

Then I will be staying at 4.7ghz as I will never mix electricity and water. The next thing I buy will be a better video card.

A lot of guys feel that way and too each their own thumb.gif To be honest, the voltage wall at 4.7ghz + makes it about the highest truly "practical" overclock for most people.
I have 6 clc's ( 3 h-60's,1 h-100 and 2 thermaltake extreme water 2.0's) and so far ( fingers crossed) I haven't had any problems. I finally took the " plunge" and bought a waterblock and pump to make a custom loop, we will see how that goes.

A fully stable 8 core at 4.6ghz plus is pretty stout, mix it with some fast ram ,an SSD and it is a very nice rig smile.gif

ya I have some really good airflow in my case but uner load I noticed I was hitting near 50c with my xigmateck gaia. At that point, and under the influence of many beers, decided to get the corsair h80i.... best drunk decision I've ever made lol. So far It's been great under load, and I pray doesn't leak. Mainly because I think the liquid inside is conductive. Not 100% sure thought. It is a goal of mine to in the future have a custom loop, but I need to get a new case atleast before then. Been thinking about the nzxt phantom 530, mainly because my antec 900 really isn't that great for cable management, and You can fit atleast a dual rad in the phantom 530. It's also a full atx for only 130 bucks and has many great features.

You have said that the better 8350s hit the voltage wall after 4.8ghz. Well this is not one of the good ones as it hits the wall after 4.6ghz.

Sometimes you're the windshield and sometimes you're the bug.

I worked on fsb OCing and found a sweet spot at 240. With the cpu volts locked as high as I dare go for every day use in IBT it gets a stable +3 @4.6, it's all over the place and unstable @4.7, and stabilizes at -1 @4.8. Temps range from 55-58C under stress testing. Oh, the ram is running at 1920 right now and the hardest part was getting it to run in dual channel mode.
