Update BIOS without CPU installed?

Thread Starter
I'm starting a new build and was curious if it was possible to update the bios on an ASRock X79 EXTREME4-M without a CPU.
For all I know the board may ship with the latest bios, (which is required for the 4930K, unless I'm mistaken) but I'd rather not order it unless I can update it if it doesn't.

Parts:
CPU: Intel Core i7-4930K 3.4GHz 6-Core Processor
Motherboard: ASRock X79 EXTREME4-M Micro ATX LGA2011 Motherboard

I really need the PCI slot, and this seems to be the only 2011 mATX board with it. Pretty slim choice of mATX motherboards for 2011 in general, but any input would be appreciated.

Nope. You must have a CPU to process what you are doing.

If the BIOS chip is removable, you can also ASRock to ship you an updated chip.
Once again...

Okay, thanks. I wasn't aware if ASRock had something similar to ASUS's Flashback. Now to try getting in contact with ASRock...

Still working on the other parts, but I'll be ordering it in the next few days. Was hoping I could get in touch with them before ordering it, but I guess they only talk to verified owners.
